CoActLive Enterprise Wiki

CoActLive announces today its release of a new pricing model geared toward better data security and privacy for businesses with sensitive information storage needs.

The new two tiered pricing model emphasizes better security and privacy for company data. With its Virtual Server technology, CoActLive offers it’s Enterprise Wiki platform in a Fractional Virtual Server and a Dedicated Virtual Server. This, along with the standard Enterprise-Grade Hosted Solution, CoActLive is positioning it’s offering to address the growing concerns for data security in a hosted data center environment.

The ultimate in security and privacy, CoActLive’s Dedicated Server Lease Solution, offers a completely hardware-private scenario at a very cost effective price. The Dedicated Server Lease includes a built in technology refresh option at the end of the two year period where the solution is refreshed with modern equipment at the same low monthly lease. This is a great option for companyies who want to protect themselves from technology obsolescence with a guaranteed modernization of their infrastructure.

All plans include unlimited users and bandwidth to maximize the return on the company’s investment. Daily SAN backup’s are standard as part of all plans and Next Business Day Support is included.

The new CoActLive plans also include a Free Account Signup with very generous limits to get things started or to fully evaluate the solution before purchase. All plans are easily upgraded with no downtime or data loss.

Plans start at $1,975 per year with no long term commitments. The Dedicated Server Lease Solution requires a 2 year commitment with a $1 buyout of the hardware at the end of the term or a technology refresh option which extends the term by 2 years and includes a migration to brand new equipment.

More details on each plan is available on the company’s website at www.coactlive.com.

New site launched!

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

So, after several weeks of looking at what people were doing on our site we realized that we needed to re-work how we presented our product. Initially we took the approach that “here is our product, you should buy it and figure out what to use it for”. That wasn’t working too well. An Enterprise Wiki is still a fairly unknown “thing” in the world, as it turns out. So rather than showing our features and functions, although very important, we took a “solutions” approach.

Our approach now is, “here is what you can use our product for and you can buy it as a solution for just that purpose”. Off course, the challenge with that is we greatly narrow our target audience … but that is actually a good thing. We now focus our efforts on just one solutions (with more coming later); the Company Intranet Solution.

If you need to create a company intranet, CoActLive is for you. The solutions comes pre-packaged with all the features, functions and micro apps you need to create a company intranet for a very reasonable price. We’ll begin to target this solution even more in the future with industry specific intranet offerings. We’ve had great success in the Real Estate industry with many successful deployments so we’ll start with that. Our most recent deployment in Atlanta, GA had the following to say:

“Great work! Super site! You all should be very proud!“~~John Watson
“I think this will be very helpful especially since most agents work at home. Thanks.” ~~Linda Liu

Keep an eye out for future solution releases very soon!

What is an Enterprise Wiki?

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Wiki’s are becoming popular topics for blogs and news articles these days but most people still see them as personal tools to interact or post photos and recipes online. Although this is very true, it is by far the whole picture. Even the mainstream media is picking up the concept of Wiki’s in the workplace and starting to write articles about it. For a relatively small minority of people, wiki’s are a hugely powerful tool for storing, organizing and collaborating at an Enterprise level.

As a wiki service provider, we have completely embraces this concept in our business where we store “EVERYTHING” in the wiki. We store our leads, customer information, projects, tasks, bug fixes, quality control, marketing and even our investor relations. This approach has served us well, increasing our productivity and decreasing our time to market for all our services and projects. The ability to store data in a structured way (Structured Data vs. Free Form Data) has expanded the usefulness of an already powerful tool; the Wiki.

This has made such an impact within our own company, we barely use any other software to manage our data. We have even created a Micro App to manage small ad-hoc discussions among our employees, almost eliminating the use of e-mail for internal communication. Although this is probably a bit extreme for most companies, we feel that there is always a better way to do things.

We call this new Micro App “WikiMail” (there is probably a better name for it) so please look for it in our next release of CoActLive.

Why is CoActLive Free?

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

Our philosophy is simple: if you are a light user of technology you shouldn’t have to pay as if you were a heavy user. This is the basic reason why we now offer a free version of our Business-Grade Enterprise Wiki service. That’s right, this is not a trial or a slimmed down version of the real one; it is a full-featured Enterprise Wiki for a business to use.

Wiki’s are great collaboration tools; there is no doubt of that, but mainstream small businesses have yet to take advantage of this great power. Perhaps it’s uncertainty of what a wiki is, or the cautious acceptance of the ASP data hosting scenario that this technology has not truly penetrated the mainstream small business world. Whatever the reason, CoActLive was built to focus on just that: make a wiki easy enough and secure for the average small business to embrace. Make a wiki cost effective so that the Return on Investment (ROI) is easy to justify. Really answer the questions: Why do I need one? Will this make me any more money? How will it save me money? Will it be easy to use and will it be secure for my data?

CoActLive was released with 13 Micro Apps to help a small business manage their data. Bulletin Boards, Calendars, Expense Reports, Leads Manager, Projects, Timesheets, Tournaments, Document Manager, Help Desk, Photo Gallery, Group Directory, Knowledgebase and Workorders. These light-weight applications, or situational applications, are made to be very easy to use, simple to modify by the business owner and flexible. We like to call them “Do it Yourself Software” because they are super easy to change to fit EXACTLY the business needs.
